Museum Reviews
This was a really great museum. I brought my teenage mentees. We know that it is hard to please teenagers but to my surprise they really enjoyed it. They were highly engaged
Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Museum is a mixture ot history and art. Also cost accessible, we paid only 8$ with a student ID.
The exhibits are top-notch and showcase a truly remarkable collection of historical artifacts. A must-visit for history buffs!
An incredible experience. Walking through this museum felt like being transported through time. I learnt so much in a short space of time. I really liked that they avoided the obvious items and focused on reframing commonly accepted misinformation and promoting positive messages. African American history does not begin with slavery.
The K.A.S.S.I.E. Project hosted their first of many events for surthrivers of sexual and domestic abuse. Perfect setting for My Voice My Truth My Power!
Today, I had an amazing experience at the Apex museum. The staff was warm and helpful; and the exhibits were powerful and touching.
I TRULY BELIEVE THAT EVERY BLACK PERSON AND WHITE PERSON SHOULD EXPERIENCE THIS AT LEAST ONCE IN THEIR LIFETIME! 💯💪🏽
Jan worked here for years and she loved it and gave her heart and soul into helping the patrons that visited the museum. It is a beautiful and historical place to revisit the wonderfulpast of our lives.
If you haven’t been to the Apex Museum yet, go and get the guided tour with Dan—might’ve been once of the best museum experiences I’ve ever had! The way they take you to through the history of African civilization with such depth and providing such great perspective
The absolute best African American Educational Museum. I took my grands here and they loved it. We spent two hours walking through entire Museum and read EVERYTHING!! Love how it shows the absolute TRUTH with evidence of what happened to our Educated, Gifted African Kings and Queens by force migrating them all to America as slaves.
Thought this would have the history of Apex Legends, it did not. Very Disappointed
Not quite what I expected from what I read about it but it was a cool experience. Definitely recommend.
Great place, it was such a good experience. We will be back for sure .Keep it up
It's a fun museum. I'd recommend it to anyone who's in Atlanta for a little bit of time. They want to expand, and I hope they succeedn
Not much to see, paid like $12. No unique/historical artifacts besides the slave tags. I'd recommend the civil rights museum in Montgomery Alabama if you're trying to learn about black history.
Great experience, learned so much! Everyone should take the time to visit and learn.
The museum is situated in a historic building that immediately evokes a sense of reverence and curiosity. The interior is thoughtfully organized, with exhibits that chronicle the African American journey from ancient African civilizations to contemporary achievements. The layout is both accessible and engaging, making it easy to navigate through the various exhibits.
Kyler, our tour guide was exceptional. She was absolutely amazing. She has a passion for history, which she releases in her love for history at every level! She shared a world of history, knowledge, and research with us! I will cherish this lifetime experience. Her internship at the Apex museum adds so much value, knowledge, and understanding to History, Slavery and the Door of No Return!!! The East Central Dekalb Seniors love you, and we are so proud of the young lady who will represent our future!!! Thank you, Kyler and Apex, for selecting an exceptional intern for your program!!! This was an amazing place. I am glad I found it. We took our 4 children here to learn more about African Americans' history. It was not overwhelming for them. They did have a lot of questions during our visit. Which is why I brought them there: to open their minds and to learn more. They learned so much! We will be back!
So much information here at this site. It was amazing. I took my mom here for her bday weekend because she loves African American history. I would recommend to anyone else!!!
Very informative and uplifting. Stop by and see a different historical perspective of African American history. With an emphasis on African origins and African contributions to the World.
This was a great tour. Kyla, our tour guide, told us a unique story about her college research and how it connected to her lineage. It was powerful! It was the best part of the tour. The museum should add her research paper to their collection. Everyone should go. Some parts may be too for some, but it's worth it. It's an education that a textbook could never teach. The document behind the statues are real.
This was an excellent experience for my young mentee to learn about African American history.
Museum is extremely old and has never been updated. The video, exhibits, and other things were put in during the 90s and never changed. We were also told many factually inaccurate historical details while on our tour. It is also odd that since opening (in the early 1990’s) they have been trying to collect funds for a better museum. However, it’s obvious they can’t even keep up with what they have. Update your exhibits and facts and this would be 100% an awesome museum.
Such a hidden treasure! Also, the staff was so welcoming and full of information!! I'm so glad we had an opportunity to visit and we will certainly be coming back for the full guided tour! So incredibly important that we know where we came from but how far we need to strive to go. Thank you for this space to reflect!
This museum is so underrated. Its a wonderful, informative and serene museum with lots of history. Its a well-thought and organized museum and one can easily spend ~1.5 hours there. Must recommended.
As many times my husband and I have visited Atlanta over the years we never knew about this place. Absolutely love it. The ladies are informative, friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable people. Great tour. Thanks. We will definitely be back.
