Museum Reviews
Visited for an event and it was spectacular. Great history and art. Definitely will go again.
Had a fabulous visit to the museum. George at the front desk was particularly helpful and knowledgeable. Loved the Jabari Jefferson exhibit. What a talented artist! This is a gem of a museum. The building itself is a historical monument. Don’t miss it!
Museum, exhibit and event space of significant historical value which still retains the character of the original AME church.
Lots of interesting art and history here. I went for a concert but arrived early and got to explore the galleries a bit before the show.
Small and mighty. I was greeted as I walked into the museum and pretty much received a guided tour. It is a small space housed in a historic church that was saved from gentrification. Rich history and the special exhibit was incredible. Free entry; spent ~1-2 hours.
Unbelievable hidden gem of history with great guides that exposed our youth group to so much TRUE Real History & Narrative
Excellent place to learn about African American history in Annapolis, MD.
First visit to the museum and it won't be my last! The artwork by the featured artist, Jabari Jefferson, was phenomenal. Loved the Mount Moriah church and the displays in the museum where very informative. Always love learning about history.
Engaging exhibit covering many aspects of African-American life in Maryland.
It was a nice museum but it didn't go too indepthwith the information.
Nice small museum that tells some stories from Annapolis, Maryland. Free entrance
Very nice museum with alot of history. The temporary exhibit was great and we saw the artist.
It was my first time there. We had a guided tour with students. It was a lovely experience and very informative, not just about Banneker, Tubman, and Douglass, but about the surrounding area and the impact of African American people on said areas. I will go again.
Went to a first showing exhibit with friends and it was glorious! Met so many interesting and great people. Please go! The exhibit is there for rest of the year.
A rather small museum, but sometimes that's good, not overwhelmed with history or information. Newly renovated, well organized and it's free, but please make a donation.
A terrific neighborhood museum with displays set to educate and attendants who are courteous and kind. Attending the Kwanzaa celebration, I was so impressed with the Swahili performance and meal, served thereafter. No charge for all their talent and gifts, I’ll return, next show, as I learned a terrific amount about the diaspora.
Excellent displays of essential pieces of history. I liked seeing photos and items from the civil rights movements to place where I was and where my parents were.
I have walked past this building several times without ever going in, this was the first time I have ever stepped foot inside and I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the museum was. It isn't a very big museum but it is still very well put together, the trip will last you about 45 minutes to an hour and a half. I would definitely recommend it if you are in Annapolis.
The museum had 3 floors but only one floor was for the main exhibit. Went briefly through slavery and civil rights. Not as interactive as I would like but it was clean and had visuals for children to see. There was only a security guard at the front desk so no one was there to answer our questions. The elevator inspection date said it expired in 2018 which made us nervous. Had a nice selection of books to purchase in the lobby.
Lovely exhibits in a beautiful, well-maintained space. This is a great place to bring children to learn about the Civil Rights era. Very nice current art mixed with historic exhibits and informational plaques. Donations only.
Very interesting museum, the staff was very friendly. I was expected a bigger place our self tour lasted for only 30 mins but we enjoyed it.
Wonderful informational, if there was a fireplace and cups of tea, it would have felt like home. I receivedt some geneology suggestions for trying to move forward with my African American heritage. Lovely gentleman at the desk just hoping you will ask more questions ! We need more of these places and less hatred.
Wonderfully kept and inviting museum. Detailed explanations of the clear and accessible exhibits. Two current art shows available on separate floors in a portion of the museum. Very knowledgeable and hospitable attendant at the front desk. Very kind and personable, as well.
