This was a great experience! Everything about the exhibition was phenomenal. Take you children and family here. We loved it…

The art was beautiful however, it was not enough. I expected to stay at minimum an hour . I was there for 20 mins. It not worth $18.00 plus $10.00 for parking . I will not be returning. I rather go to the African American Museum in Washington DC.

I always enjoy the art and experience at the Gantt. I would like to see more art for sale there.

I went for African American art exhibits but after 8 pm, the place turned into a club! Over populated like a NYC subway, loud music, half-dressed women, people dancing on elevators, and guys trying to pick up women. It used to be a classier place. Disappointed.

What a beautiful place. I am so impressed with everything and the women were so knowledgeable. I am so grateful for a place like that. The art, education, the history. Thank you, Nedra Adams 😊😊

Well…. I came here waiting in the lobby to join others who were coming. A mean lady came to the lobby and said we cannot wait here. I said ok I’ll go to the store and pretend to look at things. I told my group….we decided to GO TO A MUSEUM WHERE THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, allow them to wait in their lobby, and don’t say things like “that’s not what we’re here for” so people can’t wait in your lobby lol? If you don’t want people to come continue to do what that mean lady did to us today and people will continue to stay away. We’re not welcome obviously, in a museum supposed to be representing us!

Very cool to visit and support black artists. Some really nice exhibits. Although it seems big, the actual amount of works is pretty small. But they have a cool video presentation room where the talk about the artists and you get to see/hear many of them talk about their work. Plus air conditioning, water fountains, and nice bathrooms for a small entry fee.

Very nice museum. The Day I went they were having a free dance class. I enjoyed all of the works but there's a particular digital work you have to go see by Mickalene Thomas. Absolutely beautiful. You can't take pictures but it's well worth it. The story is she created that particular digital art exclusively for Harvey B. Gantt Museum, you won't find it or the digital copies any where else.

Much smaller than i expected, i was in the museum for less than an hour but it was very nice. 3 exhibition rooms each with a different theme. I enjoyed the pamphlet that had more information about each artist and their work.

A relatively small to mid-sized art museum hosting impressive exhibitions met with great curation and attention. Definitely one of uptown Charlotte’s gems.

Sad to say but this museum was very underwhelming. I figured bringing my kids during black history month I'd be immersed in wall to wall art and other forms of visual imagery. To my dismay it was as dry and stale as expires crackers. The info video gets you so hyped about what your about to experience but the actual galleries leave much to the imagination. I'm hoping that I caught the museum on the wrong day. I'll give it another chance later in the month. But my first experience was one I'd like to forget.

Update 12/27/2023 - Enjoyed a night out at the museum with family. The museum celebrated Kwanzaa with free admission. . They also have a great gift shop. (See photos )The museum has a little something for everyone. Lots of free events. Recently, my husband and I checked out one of these events. They were celebrating the 50-year anniversary of Hip Hop. They also have a nice gift shop. Prices are very reasonable.
