The fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain have nothing to do with black history.

I really enjoyed the museum. I saw the virtual video because the museum was crowded that day by university students. This was one of the best choices because after the video what over I could breeze through the museum quickly. The information was awesome. The store was stocked with great items to purchase.

This tour was amazing and the moderator was phenomenal, I believe his name was Darren? I am a black history historian and I heard about civil rights stories I knew nothing another. I felt moved because the tour guide had us to imagine we were there when discrimination was going on. I want to go back!

My experience was ruined by the temperature of this building. Throughout my tour my watch read temperatures between FIFTY and FIFTY FIVE, and it felt so cold my kids began to cry. It is the middle of summer so my three children were dressed in shorts and short sleeves. This would've been five stars if we didn't have to leave thirty minutes early because everyone was freezing. Aside from that my tour guide: Jeanne, was great.

Was a very well-organized museum with unique exhibits, plenty of video recordings from protests, and the man at the front desk was extremely kind and friendly. As I was saying goodbye to the kind man at the front desk I was approached by what I assume to be security who was upset I had taken pictures of some of the exhibits. I said that I had as I assumed the no photography sign meant no flash photography. He said no and that I was caught on camera taking photos of multiple exhibits. While I appreciate that he did not try and confiscate my phone I still find the reasoning ridiculousSupposedly they don't have the "licensing" to allow photos of their exhibits. I would have understood if for the seriousness of the exhibit, no photos were to be allowed or that it was a temporary exhibit, thus they cannot allow certain parts of the museum to be photographed. But this is a PERMANENT exhibition. How do you not have licensing rights to something that you are charging $15 for? You have licensing to charge people to see it but don't have licensing to let them take photos? And if you don't have licensing for it, why am I paying you and not the random guy who does have licensing? And why does someone who likely isn't even in the museum property have licensing instead of the thousands of paying patrons you guys get?? It's one thing if it was a free museum but to charge people then not let them photography any of the museum is crazy. Loved my time here but the licensing needs to be fixed

Thoughtful and comprehensive exhibit. A treasure. Knowledgeable and engaged docents Angela and Darren brought their knowledge and perspectives which beautifully enhanced the experience.

Wonderful, educational experience. The people working there were all very nice. It wasn't crowded on a Tuesday. We didn't pay for the guided tour but ended up running into the group toward the end. The tour guide (Darren?) sounded very knowledgeable and passionate. This was my 2nd time visiting in 14 years. It was cool to see a photo of my friend's mother in the exhibit of people arrested during the Freedom Rides & protests. I also saw that the gift shop sells a book written by someone I knew of in college. Well worth the trip. Thank you!

As a visitor from the UK I knew very little about the history of the civil rights movement. So I was very interested to come to the museum. I would strongly recommend you take the guided tour. Our guide was Angela and she did a wonderful job of bringing the history and the exhibits alive, happy to answer all the questions we had. At many points I found the experience quite moving as you are taken back and immersed into the Jim Crow era - from original objects through to photos and video. Highly recommended.

I was in town for an event for my doctoral program and my cohort went on the guided tour with Darren. SO WORTH IT! This was not your usual museum tour or tour guide. He had passion, conveyed pain, infused humor, and inspired a hopeful future! His auditory style and story telling abilities really draws you in. Though I think the artifacts and other aspects are nice if I had gone on my own tour, it was Darren who made the experience spectacular. Highly recommend.

You can’t visit Greensboro with visiting this pivotal place where American history occurred during the Jim Crow Era. The four young men who spearheaded the Greensboro Sit-In deserve to be remembered for their trailblazing efforts and I’m happy that this museum does just that. You either have the option of touring the museum by yourself or with a tour guide for an extra fee. I highly recommend opting for the tour guide, because you learn much more about the sit-ins and American history involving the discrimination and intentional displacement/mistreatment of African Americans in the U.S.Our tour guide was Darren and he was phenomenal! Very passionate and did not spare details. It’s so important that history as such is shared, especially since we find that much of the history mentioned in the museum still occurs today. I recommend visiting the gift shop on your way out :) so many options and the proceeds support the museum.

The Greensboro Lunch Counter at FW Woolworth is history so it's a must. Pay extra for the guided tour. Well worth it. Surprisingly our guide was a lovely white lady and gave us an excellent tour. She was passionate. The exhibits are well done. No photos permitted

This museum is truly a hidden gem of Greensboro! It is obvious that the passionate and knowledgeable staff truly care about the continued expansion of civil rights in the United States and abroad. Thank you Angela for a fantastic and fact-filled afternoon!

For Black History Month, the Delta Zeta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. visited the International Civil Rights Center & Museum with our youth auxiliary group, The Sigma Beta Club. For a few young men, this was their first trip from the Durham area. I appreciate the amount of information and stories that Robin Easter provided on our tour. Although I’m an Aggie alum, it is always an amazing experience to visit the museum and see the new exhibits and artifacts that the museum has collected. Also, they have some amazing books in the museum store. Again, special thank you to Robin Easter and all of the museum staff. I also appreciate you taking a selfie with me!!!!
