The content may bring you to tears &/or upset you, but either way, it is a great experience.

Great experience but be prepared to be pulled at your heart stings. I recommend you do the sit in simulator as it gives you an immersive experience of what others went through.

Must do in Atlanta! This museum is mighty. My mom and I visited and were there for about 1.5 hours. The exhibits were very powerful. They have many different sections and some interactive exhibits. The most powerful for me was the "sit in" where you are fully emerged in a sit in at a "whites only" dinner. They have tissues in hand and the staff is sensitive to how it impacts everyone.

Immersive museum on which we learn a lot about the evolution of morals towards African American populations. We spent about 1 hour reading some passages. For the curious wishing to read as much as possible, the visit may take more time.

A very impactful walk through history and a great deep dive into the many activists who may not be covered in history books. Also goes in-depth into aspects specific to Atlanta, which was great for us visitors! Staff were fantastic and the gift shop is worth a visit for books and some museum merch.

It was fascinating and difficult to read, experiencing the pain and inequality people face in America. If you're in Atlanta, this should be on your list of places to go.

The entire third floor is dedicated to pushing propaganda narratives about foreign countries that support the war machine. They never even mention that the CIA harassed and murdered Martin Luther King, Jr. This museum refuses to actually expose us to the complex truths of society and deliberately avoids anything that could make people uncomfortable or may reflect poorly on the US regime. They even have pictures of Tienanmen square's tank man despite that man never being harmed (The full footage is available online as well as CIA documents showing they organized that entire thing) I was going to ask about Assata Shakur or the MOVE bombings but that's clearly out of the question. This place would be better off if they scrapped the third floor and just made it a museum of the civil rights movement. They literally have Stalin and Mao Zedong characterized as dictators despite having less prisoners in their time than in the US today.

We came here using the Atlanta City Pass and this was one of the optional choices. It's a pretty small museum in terms of its size, but it is very impactful. There are a lot of educational exhibits about the history of civil rights in the United States, with a large focus on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as many martyrs and victims. It moved me greatly to see the struggles that people went through, and still go through. Tissue boxes can be found around some of the more emotional exhibits, which I thought was very thoughtful. This was a beautiful place that provoked a great deal of reflection for me and my party. The gift shop has some lovely items. We spent about an hour and a half here. Every person who was working was very pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely come back.

Everyone should visit this place at least once. I learned more during my walk thru than I ever learned in school. The staff were friendly and could be seen walking through each exhibit answering questions. The renactments felt so real. It was one room in particular in which you couldnt take photos and that was probably my favorite room in the entire place lol. I could have stayed there all day reading MLK's sermons and notes. If you're in the area and history is ya jam check this place out.

The museum has valuable information and is very well organized. However, it lacks audio guides in different languages. My parents do not speak English, so it was difficult for them to understand.

This was a beautiful facility and the staff were great! My family and I enjoyed our tour and look forward to returning after the expansion is completed. I have long admired Dr. King and learned some new things about him on this tour. I really enjoyed the exhibit from his Nobel Peace Prize.

Visiting the National Center for Civil and Human Rights was a profound experience, especially as I spend my summer as a policy fellow. The center beautifully captures the struggle for civil and human rights across the globe, providing a deep and engaging exploration of these crucial issues. One interesting fact I learned is that the center houses the personal papers and artifacts of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., offering an intimate look into the life of one of the most influential leaders in the fight for equality. The exhibits are incredibly well-curated, making it an unparalleled learning opportunity. One of the most impactful parts of my visit was the simulation of a sit-in at a segregated lunch counter. It was a painful and emotional experience, providing a visceral understanding of the courage and resilience required to stand up against injustice. This simulation, along with the other exhibits, left me feeling inspired to continue advocating for human rights and justice in my own work.I wholeheartedly recommend the National Center for Civil and Human Rights to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the ongoing fight for equality and human dignity. It's a place that not only educates but also profoundly inspires visitors to be part of the change.

We absolutely loved coming here. It was beautiful and immersive. We all learned so much. It says it takes about 2 hours to tour but I would recommend allotting more time for this so you can really read and listen to everything.

We took a guided tour of the museum with our kids and it was amazing!!! Our guide, Derrick, was engaging and knowledgeable and made the content relevant for the wide range of ages in our group. The Center is a powerful testament to how people - famous or just every day citizens - can change the world around them. I STRONGLY recommend the guided tour - thanks to Derrick for a wonderful afternoon! Great experience!

Would have been nice if I actually got to see it. My family and I got to the museum at 4:23 with our pre-bought tickets and we were turned around as they said they weren’t taking tickets past 4:30pm. Mind you the museum closes at 5pm. If you aren’t going to accept tickets past 4:30 then say you close at 4:30. My family and I wasted money and a trip that we were looking forward to for months.

Order tickets online for a guided tour. You can park in the parking deck of Coca-Cola or the aquarium ( flat $20 fee) We were running a little late waiting in line at the parking deck. We called to see if we could change our tour time. The person on the phone told us that it is a self guided tour. We let them know that we paid for a guided tour. For some reason he didn't know they offered guided tours ( go to the information desk and they will get a tour guide for you) It was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaged. We asked soooo many questions. He was patient and such a joy. There are currently 3 levels and they are about to expand soon. The bathroom was clean and the staff was pleasant (gift shop attendant, info desk, tour guide, the young lady with the walkie-talkie, the man in the blue shirt whom we thought was the tour guide and the young man in the Martin Luther King room with the curly hair 🙂) everyone was great! Thanks for taking pride in your positions. It was a great day!!!

Amazing place that highlights the struggles and sacrifices, the humanity and inhumanity, of the ongoing civil rights movement. Powerful.

Thankfully, not everyone in Georgia is trying to erase our history. If you have a chance to go, don’t skip out on the lunch counter exhibit.

HUMANITY IN ALL ITS COLOURS, GOOD AND BADThis is a very peaceful and zen-like building, it’s even shaped like a hug. The content is confronting and sobering, however, it’s presented with such a calm sense that you are moved in many different ways, while the overwhelming feeling is of hope for humanity.

If your interested in US history this is a great place to go. You will find many quotes, historic events and examples of civil rights from MLK to Rosa Parks. There is also an area which talks about immigrant and religious rights. Definitely a very interesting place to checkout.

Great museum with good exhibits. Definitely sit in the Greensboro Four Sit-in exhibit where you have on headphones and you feel what it's like to be harassed in that situation. I saw where it got emotional for some people. Also, visit Morehouse's Martin Luther King section where you can explore his writings. No pics are allowed in this section. We went on a Thursday as soon as it opened. There was no line and I purchased our tickets online. There are plenty of parking garages, we parked at the Coca-Cola parking garage.

I really enjoyed visiting here. I took my time going through the exhibits. The staff was *so* nice! There's even an inclusive restroom! Totally fine to get through here with a suitcase - and I was able to take elevators for most of the places. Not sure if there's one to avoid the stairs that are part of an exhibit.Would recommend going early and taking your time. There's a lot of information to soak in.
