Museum Reviews

It was worth the $$ and all. I had fun. Being able go have interactive displays while learning.
Absolutely amazing! Very inspiring and informative. Just being able to see, touch and interact with some of the greatest musicians in history was an amazing experience!
This museum is cool, but much smaller than one would expect of a museum. The main attraction is a central screen in which you can go through African Music history by era (and save music you you like, but this is actually just saving the entire playlist of music to your email). The rest of the museum offers interactable equipment, such as a rap booth or making your own beats, but generally repeats information found at the table.
Highly recommend this museum - it’s so well done and was our favorite thing of all the Nashville sites! A fantastic display of history, culture, and music that provides a complete story of the profound influence that African American music has had on America and the world.
This museum is amazing and everyone can learn the history of music here! It's also interactive and you can listen to great music from different genres and eras. Don't forget to donate when visiting as well!
I was disappointed. There wasn't any order to the museum. The galleries kinda jumped all over the place. It would be nice to have tour guides explaining each gallery. We must do better.
I rarely leave reviews on anything but this museum’s praises need to be sung. I have traveled around to amazing museums AROUND THE WORLD, and by far this is one of the most extraordinary curated historical museums I have EVER been to. Definitely worth the money and the staff were fantastic!
I love this place. I went on a Wednesday and it was free. I'm glad I came. I learned something about black music that I never knew before
The museum was great! Really enjoyed the pictures, the music, the interactive displays. They have clothing items from lots of musicians, would be great if they also included pictures of the artist with those clothing items on. I would not suggest visiting the museum on a Saturday in the summer because apparently it's a popular stop for family reunion s on Saturdays.
So well done, a must for history buffs and music lovers alike. Allow at least 3 hours, and you can get a stamp to come and go during the day. Free lockers for your purse or backpack (they’re not big enough for a suitcase).Chronologically arranged, so you can focus on eras that most interest you. The whole museum feels larger than life. The exhibits are visually arresting with lots of intelligent captions to read. The computerized listening stations could easily absorb an hour.Don’t skip the gospel choir green screen — it was my favorite activity!
Excellent trip in musical history ..... Excellent educational experience....go there if you get to Nashville
I just happened on this museum while on a short trip to Nashville recently. NMAAM is absolutely amazing! It was not just a visit, but an experience. You can create musical beats in different genres, sing with a renowned gospel choir, practice your dancing skills, and even rap (karaoke or freestyle) in a studio booth. There are lots of interactive tables, incredible visuals, and impactful documentary-style videos. I was only there for about 90 minutes but I could have stayed ALL day!! If you are in the area, definitely go and check this place out.
Hands down, one of the best museums I have visited. Extremely well designed. Interactive, informative, and so much fun! Highly recommended!
Really wanted to go to this museum but at the entrance upon entry you are agreeing to allow the museum and partners to use your likeness and voice for any purpose they want. That's a hard pass.
Wonderful experience. This museum is a superb music museum dedicated to the growth of American music. Has interactive activities of making your own song or dance video.
Incredible. I was so overcome by the feelings and the music when I first got there. And then I was able to just ease into the stories and information. The space is so well organized. I look forward to going back. A must see!
My experience was extremely enlighten and spiritual. Thank for such a beautiful day and learning the life of black culture of music 🎶.
Interactive museum where you can download up to 7-8 hours of music for free for your playlist. Very well organized by various genres of music, jazz, blues, gospel, hip hop etc. Very convenient for self-directed tour.
Essential visit to this comprehensive museum charting black music - from gospel and country to rock, soul and rap. Very interactive if u like that sort of thing.
Ditto what everyone has mentioned. A must see while you’re in Nashville. The interactive features make the museum more interesting than the Country Music. Don’t be afraid to put the headphones on at the displays. We did one of the extra$5 technology add on but not sure if I’d recommend it. If you get bored just looking at displays, then try this museum.
Great experience, and information concerning African American Music! Be prepared to walk and interact if you would like. I only participated with recording with the choir to cute and fun! They also have a piano that we could use. So my son and son in law had a blast and of course drew a crowd and a choir! Lots of family fun!
So worth every dime and more. COULD Hve spent whole day...A don't miss
This museum is amazing! So much knowledge packed in with interactive experiences. Saw a girls basketball team enjoying themselves and it elevated my happiness to see their joy.
My favorite museum to visit in Nashville. It was very interactive so my kids were fully engaged the entire time. A must visit for a Nashville trip.
Visited from out of town on 9/27 and my friends and I had such a great time! This is a very interactive museum, not only is it informative but also fun and interesting. I purchased a wristband to be able to download videos, music, etc. from the interactive stations. The staff was also very friendly/accommodating. Would recommend as a must go to anyone visiting Nashville!
Loved this museum! So much to experience and learn. Loved the kiosks where we could listen to music by famous artists and download play lists.
I loved how interactive it was. It really allows you to be apart of the experience.
It's a must see and totally worth it! As a European, I thought it was great to get a historical insight into the roots of the music I listen to every day. The implementation and possibilities for interactive experiences are great as the whole set up. The staff has been super nice and helpful.
Loved the place. Lots of history. Went during the week. Not too crowded. Definitely recommend!!!
This was clearly the highlight of our trip to Nashville! The rich music history is presented and told in a way that kept us engaged for hours, and the interactive exhibits were as fun to do as to watch others get outside themselves. This is a must visit place.
Had such a great time I went back the next day to see it all over again. it's immersive in the best way and each gallery is curated to perfection. I already have an extensive music collection but I left out with hundreds of hrs of music, particularly from the pioneers of blues, jass and gospel. I'll be back a third time I'm sure
This was the sleeper hit of our trip. We hadn't heard of it before coming and went in after seeing the sign. My teenager and I had an amazing time exploring African American music throughout the eras, looking at the displays and trying our hand at making music. The bracelet that allowed her to download the music and create her own playlist was genius and worth far more than the cost. I only wish we had gone earlier in the day, because we would have spent even more time if we hadn't already been tired.
Great place for edutainment with the kids and created our own musical Playlist
Sylvia and I were in town for a class birthday bash. We went there on a Friday at midday. It needs several visits to it justice!
It was time well spent - just under 2 hours. Could have used a bit more time. This is normal free range roaming in a museum so more time is generally better.
This was amazing and NEEDED!!! To hear about to orgins of our music was great and enlightening! I loved the wristbands and allxthe interactive features they have! This was the highlight of our Nashville stay! I will recommend this experience to everyone coming here!!
Outstanding museum! If you like music you will LOVE this place. Lots of interactive features, interesting things to read and look at. You can film your group singing “Oh Happy Day” with a choir (very fun). Learn dance moves in a studio. Research tons of artists while listening to their music, reading their bio’s, seeing who influenced them, who their peers are, who are the artists they inspired. Finally you can buy a wristband for $5 that enables you download all the music you are enjoying. Such a fantastic experience! You can easily spend a whole day here just listening to music.
Excellent museum; great fun interactive exhibits, such as singing in the choir, or freestyling in the booth. If you're ever in Nashville, PLEASE visit!✨️
I give museum of music 10/10 - comes highly recommended and a must-see. The quality of the audiovisuals, history and stories are of the best quality. Very interactive and enjoyable. Can’t see why it’s not on the top 10 attractions in Nashville.
Decided to visit here from out of town and was glad that I did. This museum was wonderful!!! I enjoyed reading the inscriptions and the hands on experience. I liked how much knowledge it gave starting from Africa until the present era. The museum isn't huge but it's very easy to maneuver and take in everything that's presented. You will live this spot!!!!
This has got to be, hands down, one of my favorite museums I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. The exhibits are lively and interactive all the way through. It’s not only educational but also very fun for adults and children alike. I would recommend checking this museum out if you are in the area!
Magnificent museum. Had the absolute best time visiting. Everything was modern, beautiful, educational & interactive. Fun for the whole family. Purchased tickets online and it was simple quick process. Customer service was great. Representative had good positive energy. Provided a great explanation and offered music band to save playlist on. The introduction video made me so proud and inspired. Music was so nostalgic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/10
This was one of the best (if not the best) museum experiences I have ever had!!! The staff here are super friendly and knowledgeable, and very willing to help you get your tickets and explain how best to experience the museum. The museum itself is absolutely gorgeous and very modern, the exhibits are very well thought out and very informative! There is no shortage of information here and by the time you leave you will have an entirely new perspective/appreciation on/for music!! Also we came in a Saturday and the D-Jay and music took the experience to another level!! This should definitely be on your list of things to do while visiting Nashville!!
