Museum Reviews

This museum had a lot of Maryland information to offer in regards to Black History. The third floor had the biggest impact on me.
Wonderful experience enriched by great staff. Everything was well maintained and the employees were very helpful and kind.
This is a wonderful black history museum that centers on the culture in Maryland as well as the plight of black Americans in the South. The second floor of the museum has a section that is dedicated to the achievements of Mr. Lewis as a great black American businessman. It’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.
I really enjoy learning about our culture. And very old saying is you are never to old learn more of history. Going to this museum learning that this Reginaild was the first black billionaire and how really hard it was for a Black man in this world. Also, make me understand we are still fighting to be free and also don't give up.Our, fight is not over.
This a wonderful place of culture for black people. If you come to Baltimore this a must visit
Lots to see. We were here longer than we expected due to so much to read and look at. Very Educational. Loved it. Staff was nice. Loved the atmosphere. Would recommend to all fellow African-American brothers and sisters.
Must go. Touring through the floors of exhibits you get a great feel of the history of Baltimore and Maryland.
Nice museum. A lot of great information... Needs more simple organization to guide visitors
Awesome experience learning the history of Reginald F. Lewis and other great Black History!
Finally!!!!! I visited the RFL Museum in Baltimore MD. Y'all this place is BEAUTIFUL and Amazing. It touches on so many cornerstones of Black culture in the US and leaves you inspired. The gift shop has something for everyone. I had taken as much time as I thought I should, but I cannot wait to come back and spend more time around this captivating collection of Black art and Black history.
The museum was amazingly well kept. The staff were very friendly from security to the first delivery I spoke to when I walked in the door. I came here on a random day and I was in town for a conference. Just walking around town and saw this museum. I walked in and felt that hard first came in.The exhibits are very well done. I learn a lot of new things about black experience in Maryland that did not know as an out-of-towner and I would recommend it for anyone that is in town to attend.
Amazing surprise to run upon this wonderful museum of Black History in Baltimore
Visited 04/13/25Very cool place. 3 levels of African American history. Highlighting the milestones and achievements with such rich history. Plenty to read, memorabilia and hand made quilts in a nice, clean building inside and out. Well worth the $12 admission.
A wonderful humbling troubling journey that’s a MUST experience. We spent close to two hours and are forever changed.Thank you to the family of Mr. Reginald F. Lewis for sharing his life and legacy.A real gem is Ms. Jeaneen in the gift shop. Pay her a visit. I promise you will be better for it ❤️.
The Reginald F. Lewis Museum, situated in downtown Baltimore just north of the famous Little Italy Community, is filled with historical treasures waiting to be shared with all who are curious to know more about the truth and greatness of Black Marylanders. Enjoy!
Lovely museum. Great auditorium and right on the inner harbor. So interesting to learn about Reginald F Lewis!! What a groundbreaking, fine fine person.
MUST SEE! I only had an hiur before they close and I could o ly tour the permanent collection on the third floor. I'll come back next time I'm in town. Appreciate the ladies too, both at the ticket desk and museum shop, all nice and warm.
So much for black history!!! Attempted to support a black owned business in my home town by brining over 50 individuals to the museum however your event coordinator has been very unresponsive! Even after calling and voicing my frustration hoping to be passed to her since she was “in the office”, SHE REFUSED to take my call. To DC we go!!! PLEASE PEOPLE DO BETTER!!! No point in having an event coordinator if she refuses to speak with paying customers…Geesh!
This is museum provided an amazing experience to me and my family and for the event that was held there. The staff, the Cater company - 1st Class Act, the food was delicticable and the Museum displays were "Outstanding"!!! I highly recommend to take time and come visit the Reginal F. Lewis Museum!! It is classy, clean and decorated in great quality. Thank you.D.Patterson
Extensive gallery with a mix of art and historical pieces that tell hundreds of stories.
This was a great experience! This museum is full of information, and it was immaculate. We went during the first week of the month and were not charged an entry fee, being that we are Bank of America card holders. Great place to add to your list if visiting or living in Baltimore!
Haven’t been here in years, but went last week with my child’s field trip and everyone from the guides to the atmosphere was very exceptional. So much knowledge given about Baltimore/Maryland history.
The Fabric, Paint and Sip program was a hit. The staff and guest artist was phenomenal. We got to make an original piece of artwork.
There is alot of cultural insight. This building is also accessible for wheelchairs and scooters. The giftshop is nice too!
Real black history that needs to be commended and valued to the current generation and the next 👏🏾👏🏾
It was a very enjoyable visit and very insightful as to the roles that Maryland and Marylanders played in the history of slavery in america, and the advancements of the Black American culture in all facets of american life.
It was an honor to walk through this museum. The elementary educational systems in Maryland should make this one of many field trip requirements. Very nice place to take our youth so they can develop respect and honor for who they are becoming.
This place is an amazing representation of black history in Baltimore and across the country ❤️
I thought it was educational. It provided some insight on Maryland and why I've grown to love it so much even though I am from the midwest. It has a rich history and I love how the museum tells the story. I even got some nice trinkets from the store. My only criticism is for them to show me more.
Celebrated my cousins 60th Birthday. Beautiful venue. Everything was top notch!!!
Took the grands for an outing. We all had a wonderful time: I reminisced and they learned. There is a beautifully designed exhibit on the first level that explores the Civil Rights Movement which features a black & white TV. The children were fascinated by the images as well as the setting. In fact, all of the exhibitions are designed to appeal to multiple ages and different levels of awareness. Nicely done! Very affordable, with a welcoming staff.
I had a great time at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum! I loved having the opportunity to see work created by Elizabeth Talford Scott and other artists who create work that tells a story using quilts and other materials! I also enjoyed seeing artwork created by high school students in the area!
Absolutely gorgeous place. Very timeless piece of art in the center of Baltimore City.
Great full experience on the holiday. Exhibits very substantial and full of information.
Had a fantastic time and became a museum member. Looking forward to returning for more exhibits and programs.
Wonderful documentary on Mothers Day enjoyed every min of it relaxing room refreshments were served made my visit even better.
Very interesting exhibits with a friendly staff. The crowd who showed at the event I attended were so...cultured and engaging. It was quite an event.. the outfits I saw! I would definitely recommend checking this museum out.
Amazing work on display, everyone was welcoming. The current exhibit, Black Women Genius, on the 2nd floor was well worth the trip and parking😊.
Black, Woman, Genius exhibit is one of the best I've ever seen! Such a beautiful, unique, and spiritual space full of art you will not see just anywhere. Special shoutout to Auntie/Ms. Diane working there! She made the experience complete with her kindness and knowledge of all of the pieces in there! Will definitely return anytime I'm back in the city!!
The Reginald Lewis Museum is one of nine Baltimore museums and universities presenting the Elizabeth Talford Scott Community Initiative! It is well worth going to every location. I was there for that exhibition and engagement project. 😀
Wonderful experience and I think Ms. Dianna who waa securing the second floor today should get a raise. She spoke with enthusiasm and certainly while talking about the exhibits. She could have walked around in silence patrolling but engaged and encouraged me to continue learning and exploring.
This is a great place both for visiting as part of learning about Baltimore, Maryland, and American history and a great place for hosting your event.I attended the 5th Afros and Audio Podcast Festival here, and what a magnificent choice of a venue it was for hosting such an event. It was spacious, well lit, secure, sound acoustics on point, and so much more.My only sadness was that I forgot to get a t-shirt from the store before I left (only remembered on my way home 🤦🏿)!I highly recommend visiting, especially if you're coming to Baltimore for more than a day
