In The Latest Entertainment News Of Dwyane Wade…The Ex-Wife Has Some Words
Former NBA player Dwayne Wade’s ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, isn’t here for the sports analyst exploits of their trans daughter, Zaya wade.
According to court documents, Funches-Wade petitioned against her ex-husband to have their 15-year-old child’s name legally changed.
Zaya’s mother, 41, alleged that Wade’s version of support is more,
“Positioned to profit from the minor child’s name and gender change with various companies through contacts and marketing opportunities including but not limited to deals with Disney.”
She continued,
“I have concerns that [Wade] may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies.”
Back in April, Funches-Wade met up with the retired baller in Atlanta where he supposedly told her that,
“A lot of money had been already made” off of Zaya pertaining to her “name and gender issue.”
She detailed,
“[Wade] told me that he intended to make our child very famous due to the name and gender issue and also informed me that there would be endorsements/contracts associated therewith,” based on the court reports.
The former NBA wife also claims that her child’s birth name, Zion, was very much “present at the time, answered that various companies were interested and that Disney was a prospective company,” when offers were pouring in.
Despite the allegations and court documents, Wade’s ex-wife doesn’t want her child to be pressured by the media given that she’s a minor. Instead, the mother of two prefers Zaya to make decisions based on her own interests.
Dwayne Wade’s Response In All Of This
The 40-year-old filed a petition in August arguing that he had “full authority” in legally changing Zaya’s name without input from his ex-wife. He also stated that Funches-Wade “received notice” as a “courtesy” to her.
As of now, the mother’s documents have only been filed but not listed on the court’s docket for further review and Wade has yet to respond to the petition.
