In The Latest News Of Bronny James
LaVar Ball, the controversial sports father behind LaMelo Ball (Charlotte Hornets) and Lonzo Ball (Chicago Bulls), recently sat down with Sporting News Australia and detailed his thoughts on Bronny James’ future in the NBA.
The Ball patriarch suggested that LeBron James’ eldest son forgoes college and opts to play overseas until he’s eligible for the NBA draft. James currently has endorsements on the table with NIKE and NIL (name, image, and likeness) with Beats by Dre.
James played his final high school game at Sierra Canyon back in March and while colleges and pro sports teams are waiting on the young athlete’s decision, he could play professionally for a smaller league.
The New York Jets practice squad alum said,
“People wanna see. He gonna fill the gym up. Two things gonna happen. When you’re young, and you like that, and your dad is where he’s at… a lot of people going to come to the gym and say, ‘He ain’t like that for real.’ The other half is going to want to support him. So the gym is going to fill up.”
Ball’s take on James is to simply grow his own empire and amplify his court skills as opposed to balancing those responsibilities alongside college. LeBron and his wife, Savannah, have already been vocal about their son’s collegiate plans.
In order to enter the NBA draft, athletes have to be 19 and be one year removed from high school. With this in place, Bronny would have a gap year prior to making a sound decision. There have been no reports on James’ path yet.
However, if James does decide to play overseas much like LaMelo, who played in Australia in his gap year, James’ income can increase. He is now categorized as one of the best players below the age of 19 in the nation and could be a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
James has reportedly received offers from a number of college teams with Ohio State, USC, and Oregon said to be his top choices,
“It’s fun times. It’s good to know that they want me there with them, but at the end of the day, it’s my decision, and I gotta make the right one for me,” per the Mirror.
