In High School Sports News With Bronny James
This past Sunday (Oct. 30), Bronny James and other basketball players had to quickly vacate a court during a high school basketball game after a gun scare.
James, a student-athlete at Sierra Canyon in California, was competing in a tournament against DeMatha Catholic outside of Washington D.C. at Wise High School when a fight escalated among spectators.
DeMatha was in the lead until a spectator allegedly shouted “gun,” causing the crowd to take off in panic erupting a level of chaos, per FOX News.

James took to social media and addressed his disappointment over the unfortunate incident saying,
“[High]schoolers can’t even hoop in peace [nowadays].”

President of Paragon Marketing Group, Rashid Ghazi, issued a statement about the cancellation of the game safety concerns,
“Given the incident in the stands tonight during the CBC vs. Stags game at Wise High School, we have canceled Sunday’s event. We are making the decision out of the utmost of caution to ensure player and fan safety. Refunds will be available via Go Fan,” Ghazi said.
Taking Action Against Gun Violence
With the Uvdale school shooting still a topic of response for gun laws, Everytown.org suggests that access to guns needs to be limited based on background checks, legislation, banning assault-style weapons, and passing red flag laws.
