Shia LaBeouf Isn’t About The “Transformer” Life These Days

Shia LaBeouf became a fan favorite from being an alum on the Disney Channel, to the movie Holes and of course, the blockbuster franchise Transformers

However, a string of troubles with addiction, arrests, and abuse allegations against former girlfriend FKA Twigs followed his journey. No less, redemption knows no time and it looks like the actor is finding his.

The actor will take on the role of Italian spiritual relic Pio Padre. He is known as the Saint of Pain, Suffering, and Healing. While the Catholic-themed biopic was met with mixed reviews during the Venice Film Festival, this hasn’t stopped him from prevailing.

Esteemed director Francis Ford Coppola will be working with LaBeouf on the upcoming project, Meglapolis, per CinemaBlend.

LaBeouf believes the role was a saving grace amid the hardships in his life. In fact, the controversial actor has gotten more in tune with his own faith since the passing of his mother.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, he detailed how his mother’s death ignited his spiritual journey saying,

“My mother was full of fear in her last moments: asking the doctor what this tube was and what that machine did. She was frantic,” he told the Hollywood Reporter “She was deeply interested in God and spirituality her whole life, but she didn’t know him. Hence her last moments.”

He added,

“Her last gift to me was the ultimate persuasion for faith.”

In a now resurfaced 2019 interview from Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Fuse, the 36-year-old Transformers alum opened up about changes he made personally since the film made him a household name.

When asked how he navigates Hollywood life, LaBeouf said,

“I’m not really in Hollywood. Yeah, sort of [navigating] around it.”

He added,

“I ran from [Hollywood] because it was not serving me. It was destroying me. That’s when I was getting really drunk and f⸺d up. That was all during that time when I just felt like I was becoming soulless.”

In The Latest Celebrity News Regarding LaBeouf

He recently made headlines due to disagreeing with actress and director Oliva Wilde over the film Don’t Worry Darling

During an interview with Vanity Fair, Wilde told the publication that she let the actor go from the project after lead actress, Florence Pugh, expressed her discomfort working alongside the actor,

“My responsibility was towards [Florence],” Wilde said. “I’m like a mother wolf. Making the call was tricky, but in a way he understood. I don’t think it would’ve been a process he enjoyed. He comes at his work with an intensity that can be combative.”

She added,

“I want [Shia]to get well and to evolve because I think it’s a great loss to the film industry when someone that talented is unable to work.”

However, LaBeouf’s rebuttal was quite the opposite. The former Disney star said he withdrew from the project due to a lack of scene practice with Pugh, per People
