In The Latest News of Katt Williams
Dave Chappelle has weighed in on Katt Williams’ interview with Shannon Sharpe on “Club Shay Shay,” where Williams took shots at several Black comedians. During his performance at MonDERAYS at the Hollywood Improv on Jan. 19, Chappelle, known for his no-phone policy during sets, criticized Williams for his insults.
Chappelle expressed his disapproval, stating,
“What part of the game is this? He only ethered n—–. He didn’t say anything about any of these White boys. None of these White boys function like that. Katt is one of the best painters in the game. So why are you drawing ugly pictures of us? Stop.”
While impersonating Williams, Chappelle remarked on the comedian’s tendency to criticize others, saying,
“Hurt people hurt people, but I am a hurt person that never hurt people, and he does it all the time: ‘F— this one, and f— that one, and f— this one.’ But, n—-, I didn’t hear anything that you did wrong. He didn’t do nothing wrong? Katt didn’t do nothing wrong? Katt was talking about s— that n—– did to other n—–, but not about anything that n—– did to him.”
Chappelle further questioned why Williams would call out his peers when they were all striving for a better situation, stating,
“If I told my story, it would break your heart. I lost everything and never, ever told on anybody, and this n—— the arbiter of truth. Katt, listen, I f— with Katt hard, but … DeRay, tell me, what part of the game f—- up another n—— paper? What part of the game is about telling on another n—-?”
