In The Last Entertainment News Of All Things Isaiah Washington
Grey’s Anatomy alum Isaiah Washington recently was interviewed by VLAD TV.
The actor talked about how he had a liking for the then 21-year-old singer who played co-starred with him in the hit film Romeo Must Die.
He also gave his thoughts about the later singer’s relationship with embattled singer, R.Kelly following his conviction of federal racketeering and sex trafficking.
To place it bluntly, the Houston native didn’t believe Aaliyah should’ve been painted as a victim in a relationship she participated in.
When Washington was asked about how he felt regarding the pair’s prior relationship based on what he knew of Aaliyah, the actor said,
“[Aaliyah] was complex. Like I said, she was easy to love.”
He added,
“I think she was in control of that situation.”
The actor seemed confident as he described her as being “mature beyond her age.”
“She was very in control of her being, but she was a businesswoman too. Super smart,” he said of Aaliyah. “I think she was in control of that situation even at her age.”
Washington continued,
“She was 15 going on 30, so she was in control of that whole situation,” he later added. “I don’t judge her, but she was very smart and very mature and very in control of her situation. I don’t believe one minute that Aaliyah was made to do anything that Aaliyah didn’t want to do.”
However, in true fashion, Aaliyah fans took to Twitter and posted their comments in response to the 59-year-old’s candor.

Of course, you have those who may agree with Washington’s take on the matter.
The couple were discreetly married back in 1994 when Houghton was 15 and Kelly was 27. Eventually, the marriage was annulled.
However, since the explorations of Kelly’s sex trafficking rumors prior to his conviction in September, his relationship with Aaliyah has seen its own scrutiny. This included alleged abuse and pregnancy rumors, per Shadow And Act.
