Ladies! The men did not come to play!
The theme was “Icons of the Culture,” and iconic is the best word to describe the outfits seen at tonight’s fifth annual Urban One Honors awards show that aired on TVOne and Cleo. It is fitting to say that this award show came at a perfect time of year where we celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Urban One Honors showcased the greatness of Black life from the rooftops and excellence was beaming from the celebrities who came dressed to wow and impress — most importantly the men.
From Grammy award winning artist, Pharrell Williams (a style icon that never ceases to amaze) to NAACP Image award winning, David Mann, the men looked sleek, upscale and demanded an audience with the outfits they wore (and we’re 100% here for it).
Held at The Eastern in Atlanta, the purple carpet was filled with the most iconic names in the Black community including Congresswoman Maxine Waters, musician LL Cool J and radio personality Monie Love. The red carpet was hosted by author and public figure Willie Moore Jr…the baton then passed over to R&B musician and actor Tank to host the remainder of the show while singer and actress Letoya Luckett talked to the performers, honorees and presenters backstage.
