Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony — CFDA

Yesterday, the fashion community and some of your favorite celebrities, designers and stylists gathered together to celebrate fashion’s creatives. If you are unaware of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) or their fashion awards. Consider this your introduction. The CFDA Fashion Awards is equivalent to the Grammy awards for musicians or the Oscars for actors. Honestly, in our personal opinion, this event needs inclusion in the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) acronym. These CFDA Red Carpet photos exemplifies why you might want to know about the CFDA Fashion awards.

What does CFDA do for the community?

Since 1962, CFDA works to provide its members with the resources needed to thrive in the fashion industry through support, initiatives, grants and scholarship opportunities. They are also the owners and organizers of the New York Fashion Week schedule and Fashion Calendar.

In alignment with their efforts to enhance the fashion world, their annual awards continue to give America’s notable designers their flowers. The categories included, Accessory Designer of the Year, Menswear Designer of the Year, Emerging Designer of the Year, and Womenswear Designer of the Year along with their honorary awards. The host of the night was actress Natasha Lyonne and presented by Amazon Fashion.

And the winner goes to…

Notable moments from the night included: Musician Lenny Kravitz was awarded the CFDA Fashion Icon Award, stylist Law Roach received the first-ever Stylist Award, stylist, consultant and editor Patti Wilson received the Media Award in honor of fashion columnist Eugenia Sheppard and Kim Kardashian received the Innovation Award for Skims.

The winners of the night:

Raul Lopez for American Accessory Designer of the Year: LUAR

Elena Velez for American Emerging Designer of the Year: Elena Velez

Emily Adams Bode Aujla for American Menswear Designer of the Year: Bode

Catherine Holstein for American Women’s Designer of the Year: Khaite

However, before the awards began, the looks on the red carpet were giving us life. The red carpet was hosted by Selling Sunset’s star Christine Quinn. Throughout the evening, jaw-dropping looks came in abundance. From actress and entrepreneur Keke Palmer in a Carolina Herrera original styled by Law Roach to Janelle Monae in a Thom Browne SS23 RTW look styled by Alexandra Mandelkorn, the celebrities did not come to play. However, the show stoppers of the night were Khloe Kardashian wearing a stunning wrap dress and Lenny Kravitz in a monochromatic black two-piece ensemble that featured a side cut blazer paired with a black ostrich boa from Black designer LaQuan Smith. Click through to see these looks and more of our favorites from the CFDA red carpet.
