In The Lastest News Of All Things Usher

Ahead of his anticipated Super Bowl Half Time show, R&B sensation Usher recently addressed rumors about his past involvement in babysitting Beyoncé during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay.

When asked about reports suggesting he once served as a nanny for Beyoncé, Usher humorously clarified,

“First of all, how could I be a nanny? I’d be a manny if anything.” He continued, “Nah, nah. I wasn’t Beyoncé’s nanny.”

Explaining further, the 8-time Grammy Award winner revealed that the situation was not exactly a traditional babysitting job. Rather, he was asked to supervise Beyoncé and a few others while they were at the home of musician/producer Daryl Simmons. Usher elaborated,

“Daryl Simmons, he had a group by the name of The Dolls, and they came to Atlanta for the first time…This is before Destiny’s Child became Destiny’s Child.”

Reflecting on his role at the time, the performer stated,

“I think I looked over them while they were doing something in the house; I had to watch over ’cause I was like the, you know, the authority ’cause I guess I was the teenager at the time. But nah, I wasn’t a nanny.”

This revelation follows the singer’s previous mention in August last year of knowing Beyoncé when she was younger and part of the group The Dolls. He stated,

“Fun fact, I knew Beyoncé when she was 12 years old, 11 years old. She used to be in a group by the name of The Dolls. I don’t know if I could consider myself their babysitter, but I had a time where I had to watch The Dolls.”

Sharpe inquired whether Usher foresaw Beyoncé’s future success, to which Usher responded affirmatively, emphasizing the group’s collective talent. Over the years, Usher and Beyoncé have collaborated multiple times, cementing their status as iconic entertainers. Their notable collaborations include a live performance of Usher’s single “Bad Girl” in 2004 and the song “Love In The Club Part II” featuring Beyoncé and Lil Wayne from Usher’s 2008 album “Here I Stand.”
