BruceGlen And Their Favorite Color Is…

This season’s official return to an in-person New York Fashion Week was nothing less than amazing. It was jam-packed with hour-by-hour shows spreading from Manhattan to Brooklyn and also notably historic. This year, for the first time, 25 percent of the official NYFW schedule was made up of Black-owned brands and it’s honestly about time. One of the brands that stood out to us, in particular, this fashion week was BruceGlen’s SS23 collection.

Themed “The Wild Wild West,” BruceGlen told a story through their collection of their own personal journey of leaving the East Coast and moving to the West Coast of the U.S.

The brothers took to Instagram and said,

“We were aliens in a new strange land looking for peace and found a new home.”

In the collection, mixed patterns and vibrant hues of color embodied this season’s collection. The work was clearly “out of this world” and emphasized the story of feeling different and galactical.

Greetings Earthlings…

Attendees entered the room of a building in Tribeca shared in collaboration with Fashion Bomb Daily to see the models gathered around a couch and looking like a beam of light had touched down in Manhattan while the sounds of Gin and Juice by Snoop Dogg filled the room. The collection spoke for itself. In the past, BruceGlen’s aesthetic played on patchwork and mixed prints, and layers of colors.

And This Ultimate Fashion Collection Was No Exception

While the bold colors and patterns made a statement the theme was in the details. If you look closely, you’ll see the subtle statements of cowboy/western culture.

From the button-ups and emphasized collars, earrings, and necklaces of cactus, cowboy boots (provided by California-based brand, Unfurl Vintage), and pants that resemble chaps (a leather piece some cowboys wore over jeans to protect their legs while outside) this collection showed that the brand might have been born on the East Coast, but they are officially adopted by the West,

“This season, romantic florals and neon ditsy prints are the new sheriffs in town. We are super excited [about] Summer-friendly leather looks and lightweight cargo shorts,” said the designers on their Instagram.
