In The Latest Celebrity News Of All Things Lizzo

Lizzo graces the cover of Vanity Fair for their October issue. During her interview, she got candid about her relationship with beau Myke Wright, and her thoughts on monogamy, weight, and feminism.

After the US Supreme Court issued its landmark ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, the outrage among women soared loudly in the independent era.

The “Juice” singer expressed her advocacy against rule makers over women’s reproductive decisions and oppression saying,

“I don’t want to leave history in the hands of people who uphold oppression and racism. My job as someone who has a platform is to reshape history.”

She’s been a political enthusiast standing behind President Joe Biden’s administration. However, Lizzo’s train of thought may be changing,

“I don’t know what they’re doing. I see they’re listening, but we’re in a post–thoughts and prayers society. Thoughts and prayers just don’t fucking cut it anymore.”

The flute player continued,

“I’m not condemning this current administration. I’m just very curious as to what kind of real steps they can take.”

When it comes to women of color and the treatment they have received in the media, Lizzo says she’s a “chronically disappointed optimist,”

“The way Black women have been treated in this country has made me feel very hopeless. I don’t think there was a time when [we] were treated fairly and with respect.”

She continued,

“As a fat Black woman, this country has never gone forward; it’s stayed pretty much the same for me.”

While her weight loss has been a centralized theme for conversation in social media, the 34-year-old admits how constant it has been saying,

“People have been calling me fat my entire life, but that was the first time seeing an insult of how I looked, who I am, and my music wrapped into one, and it really hurt me. And if one person says it, then another person says it, it multiplies like a f⸺ virus.”

When it comes to relationships, the singer has been with Wright for four months. It may be a surprise to some, but many Americans aren’t interested according to a study by YouGovAmerica.

A poll done in 2020 showed that about one-third (32%) of US adults say that their ideal relationship is non-monogamous based on a pool of 1,3000 participants.

43 percent of millennials are more likely to entertain non-monogamous relationships as opposed to an equal percentage of Gen Z who are open to long-term duo companionship.

Lizzo didn’t seem phased either way describing monogamy as “claustrophobic,”

“People fight for monogamy [as] they pray to it every day,” she said. “I’m not thinking about sex when I think about monogamy and rules. I’m thinking about the autonomy and independence of him and me.”

She added,

“I am not a polyamorous person, I’m not in love with multiple partners. That is not me.”
