Caleb McLauglin Is Making Headlines In Celebrity News
Actor Caleb McLaughlin went viral after openly discussing how he’s treated in comparison to his white costars on the successful Netflix show, Stranger Things.
With a huge fanbase since its inception in 2016, its popularity has seen nothing but love for the entire cast. However, for McLaughlin, that can be a different matter.
He plays Lucas Sinclair, which is one of the few Black characters on the hit show, since the age of 14. His experience taught him that not all fans view characters the same way.
According to TV Insider, McLaughlin conveyed disappointment on his journey after coming into contact with fans at Comic-Con during a meet-and-greet session.
“My very first Comic-Con, some people didn’t stand in my line because I was Black,” he explained during a live Q&A.
He added,
“Some people told me: ‘Oh, I didn’t want to be in line because you were mean to Eleven,’ even now some people don’t follow me or don’t support me because I’m Black.”
McLaughlin went further with how the U.S. fans differ from that those overseas saying,
“Sometimes overseas, you’ll feel the racism. You’ll feel the bigotry, and sometimes it’s hard to talk about and for people to understand.”
He continued,
“Why am I the least favorite? The least amount of followers?” McLaughlin questioned. “I’m on the same show as everybody from Season 1.”

Caleb McLaughlin Talks Racism With His Parents
He explained that with the help of his parent’s guidance throughout his career, they were a great help as he navigated being a Black character in a majority all-white cast,
“My parents had to be like: ‘It’s a sad truth, but it’s because you’re the Black child on the show,’” Caleb remembered. “Wow, that’s crazy. Because I was born with this beautiful chocolate skin I’m not loved?”
Social Media Having A Say So In This Celebrity News
